When you frame it that way, investment decisions change. You're not looking for the cheapest tool. You're looking at whether a system reduces cognitive overhead for the people using it. You're asking whether integration actually happens or just gets promised. You're measuring whether your staff spends less time managing data and more time doing work that matters.
Senior living communities that think strategically about this invest in fewer systems that work well together, not more systems that don't. They assign real ownership—not a side project—to making sure data architecture supports decisions, not just documents process. They involve their administrative and care staff in requirements because those people know where the friction actually is.
The ones that don't think strategically keep adding tools, keep assigning data work to whoever has bandwidth, keep accepting manual workarounds as part of the job.
And they keep experiencing unexplained turnover in the administrative roles that hold everything together.
